Sweet Caroline + Ryan! – Classic Washington, DC Wedding

No better way than to start wedding Wednesday…this gorgeous classic wedding is just perfect and we love hearing about it directly from the bride…

Both of us knew right away that most importantly we wanted all our friends and family dancing all night. To do this we knew we needed to hire an amazing band and jump start the night early with something that would get everyone on their feet. After thinking for a while we decided that we would swap the father/daughter dance with the mother/son dance because Caroline and her Dad were planning on kicking into ‘Sweet Caroline’ half way through their song. Sweet Caroline is something Caroline and her Dad dance to at any family event where there is dancing and it is also the famous 7th inning stretch for the Boston Red Sox which is the home team for Ryan’s entire side of the guest list. That choice got everyone excited and onto the dance floor, where they stayed for the entire night! Success!

Favorite Details: After Ryan found the church, St. Joseph’s on Capitol Hill, we had the idea of mimicking the starry ceiling from St. Joseph’s and projecting a starry night sky onto the ceiling at the Mellon.  We thought a starry night would really capture what that time of year is about! Our September Starry Night was everything we wanted and more!

Florals and Inspiration Behind the Big Day: Design wise we thought for a long time about what is a signature September look? Since early September still feels very much like summer we knew we wanted the wedding aesthetic to be classic and clean with a lot of creams, whites and crisp greens.

Aimee and Cindy from A. Dominick Events helped us form this ‘crisp and clean’ vision even further into the design for the floral, linens, place settings and more! Throughout the process they really understood what we had in mind and what we were trying to build.

When we stepped into the reception space we were blown away with how everything we wanted was translated perfectly at the Mellon.

Our September Starry Night was everything we wanted and more!
