Beautiful Mont Tremblant Wedding from Joel Bedford Photo

Ending off the week with a lovely wedding held at Le Grande Lodge in Mont Tremblant captured by the ever talented Joel Bedford . I adore the floral details on the reception tables and the lovely stationery throughout.

Says the bride: The wedding for us was a chance to really celebrate everything we have accomplished over the last ten years and to recognize all the family & friends that have supported us along the way. We have two kids, a house, a business, and very busy lives — this was a chance to take a moment out of the grind and create a huge memory for our families. It was important to us that all our guests had a lot of fun over the weekend and that “our day” be something memorable for them, too. Love in its many depths and shapes was a big inspiration, decor that would inspire our guests to participate and celebrate (like the confetti and the portrait game), and Spring flowers were the main elements in shaping the day.

Favourite Wedding Moments:

– Walking down that aisle and seeing everybody I love all at once smiling up at me is a landmark in my memory now. I was unprepared for how overwhelming that moment is (despite many of my friends telling me about it before!)

– All of the extra time I got to spend with my best friends. All of us are so busy and so having this wedding as an excuse to be together was so much fun.

– All of the speeches — I have never gone from laughing to crying to laughing etc. so much in such a short span of time. I am forever touched by everything that was said and done. It helps that my best friend is also a stand-up comedian and was a most excellent emcee.

– Dancing until 4:00 a.m. — it was a goal of mine that after dinner I would dance all night. And dance all night we DID. Our DJ was not only great in playing the Ultimate Playlist that we had created, but also played everyone’s requests almost immediately, and was SO nice. We could not have been happier with them! The R.E.M. dance-off, Counting Crows “Mr.Jones” singalong, or the 6 dancefloor survivors that group hug danced to ACDC in slow-motion at 4 a.m…. MEMORY GOLD.

– We chose a venue that allowed us to have a big BBQ & party the night before the wedding (everyone got to break the ice and meet each other) and everyone stayed at the hotel. Since so many of our guests were travelling from overseas, we really wanted the opportunity to see them more and having them all under one roof for two days allowed this to happen. Also, with so many of us with kids, this allowed for my daughter and son to see their friends more, too.

Advice for future brides/grooms-to-be?

You can not over plan. I was made fun of for my binder and google docs (I had supplies lists, timelines, photo call lists, etc. etc. ) and this provided a huge sense of calm on the day.

No matter how planned you are, be very open to change and go with it. Originally we would have had our wedding outside, but the weather wasn’t conducive to comfort for our guests and for us, comfort was more important than the view of the lake! Also, we chose a venue that would be beautiful inside or outside.

Welcome support and delegate tasks. I had the Dream Team when it came to bridesmaids, they are all individually remarkable and talented and I put my trust in them to help me in many areas of the wedding. I had the *minor* panic attack on the morning of the wedding and they were all there to take over and send me packing.

If you’re DIY-ing your decor, get it all done about 6-8 weeks before the wedding. There were a lot of late nights sewing circles and strips of fabric but getting it done early was a huge weight lifted early on. Get ready for the insanity to hit about 4 weeks before the wedding.

Book your honeymoon two days after the wedding to give you time to tie up the loose ends. And definitely book a honeymoon. You’re going to be really tired and excited and it was wonderful to spend a week on a beach processing everything that happened. I can not imagine having to go back to real life right after!

Finally, spend the money on a good photographer. If you’re spending that much money on a day, having it recorded properly and beautifully is essential. The wedding is such a whirlwind it’s hard to soak in all the details — having someone that you trust to do just this is really important. We also requested that all our guests put their cameras away during the ceremony so that they could be totally present for the event (and that their lovely faces would not be hidden by their phones). It was really nice for me to steal glances of the crowd and see everyone’s eyes filled with tears (and happiness)!

Take a few minutes to be married without anyone else around — we barely spoke to each other over the weekend we were so busy, but having an hour (doing the couples photos) was a really nice break from the insanity back at the hotel.
