What ice?
The promising start to the ice-fishing season on Presque Isle Bay is over.
High temperatures and heavy rain late this past week opened the western end of the bay. The interior channel area also is open. Ice slabs are piled along the southern shore of Presque Isle State Park like the remains of some snowy disaster and gulls swim in wide open-water troughs where there is ice in the eastern half of the bay. Misery Bay, too, is pocked with open water.
In short, don’t go out.
