The Pennsylvania Game Commission has put the State Game Lands User Permit proposal on hold. The State Game Lands User Permit would require anyone without a valid hunting or furtakers’s license to obtain a free permit to use Pennsylvania State Game Lands. The proposal would also restrict hikers’ use of game lands to Sundays by adding hiking to the list of activities already restricted during peak hunting seasons. A vote or measure on the proposal was scheduled for the January 27, 2015 meeting of the Executive Board of the Pennsylvania Game Commission. The board decided to further consult with hunters, conservation partners, and elected officials after receiving hundreds of public comments on this topic. The remainder of the board’s agenda is posted on the Pennsylvania Game Commissions website at www.pgc.state.pa.us .
