Region’s Waters Mostly Covered in Ice
Almost 90% of Lake Erie is covered in Ice. Most of the inland lakes and even some flowing waters in NWPA are also covered with ice. These conditions lure many anglers who enjoy ice fishing to our region. It is important to remember ice safety when heading out onto the ice. The proper thickness is important to safety and thicker ice will support more weight. At least four inches of ice is recommended to support one ice angler with their gear (200 pounds).
