Orange & Teal Wedding in Calgary
Happy Tuesday everyone. Check out this fresh personality filled wedding captured by Cassie’s Camera in Calgary, Alberta. Sarah and Graham chose to use books as centerpieces, the title of which told a story about their lives together. I like the combination of orange & teal and hope you love it too..enjoy.
For a creative, crafty soul like Sarah’s, planning a wedding was free reign to do anything she wanted. With no guidelines, no restrictions (other than a strict budget), they really prioritized what they wanted and what they didn’t – and together they truly made the day their own. A day exploding of love, laughter and colour helped to offset the cool fall Alberta temperature. Sarah was very selective about what she put her energy into, so the locations were chosen to be fuss-free and required no decor. The pipe organ in the church, as majestic as it looks, is fake and made from old cross-country skis! Their reception was at a funky recently-renovated hall (conveniently down the street) that is a social enterprise for a local agency that helps women who have come out of prostitution or have been sexually abused. Graham and Sarah asked for donations for the agency from anyone who wanted them to kiss during their reception. $175 was raised for the charity by the end of the night. They felt it was important to give back a little bit with their special day. Down the aisle, Sarah carried the small ivory Bible that her mother carried in her own wedding. The centrepieces were made from bookcovers that illustrated their time together, such as “The Pretty Girl at Camp” (where they met) and The Philosopher’s Wife (Graham will be starting his PhD this fall) and two others. Graham’s proposal incorporated an Uno card, so they made table numbers from a few packs of Uno cards.
