Hostel Review: Pariwana Backpacker, Cusco, Peru
For many backpackers in South America , Cusco in Peru is a must-see destination. For an excellent accommodation choice, I recommend Pariwana Backpacker . Here’s why:
Atmosphere
This hostel feels like a giant castle! Thick brick hallways adorned with paintings and artwork hold myriad rooms, each for different purposes. There’s an internet hangout, a kitchen, movie room, bar and restaurant, and an enormous game room with bean bag chairs that sits in the center of an outdoor courtyard. You’ll definitely have fun at this hostel.
Rooms
Rooms are spacious and homey, with ensuite bathrooms. Moreover, lockers with built-in outlets are very convenient, since you’ll never have to wait for a free one or leave your beloved iPod or smartphone at reception. Additionally, this hostel had the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in, including my own at home. I also really liked the complimentary blowdryers in the bathroom, since I never get to do my hair when backpacking.
Location
The hostel is located right in the main part of town, within walking distance of all the bars, clubs, restaurants, shopping, and tourism agencies. I loved walking around at night near the hostel, when the streets are all lit up and lively.
Free Perks
Gotta love free perks at the hostels! Pariwana Backpacker Hostel has free linens, luggage storage (convenient for Machu Picchu trekkers), internet, WiFi, tea all day, and a complimentary breakfast including breads, spreads, juice, and hot beverages.
Overall Impression
This hostel is lively, social, fun, and centrally located. Not only that, but an onsite ATM and tours desk made sightseeing easy. I also loved that there are tons of bars literally right across the street, and because the hostel has no curfew, it was easy to stay out all night.
