A Whimsical DIY Wedding in Vancouver
This next wedding was definitely a labour of love, not just by the bride & groom, but family and friends who helped celebrate Elizabeth & Doug’s special day. I was absolutely estatic when I received the images from Vasia Weddings . Held in Vancouver, this DIY wedding is absolutely vintage, modern, charming & whimsical all rolled up in one. And can we talk about the dress? Made with love by the bride’s mother. Swoon!
Elizabeth, along with the help of her mom, created these customized wedding shoes. They bought simple black wedges and covered them in the same fabric as the dress along with some decorations.
Overall Inspiration: The overall inspiration was basically mixing up all of my husband’s and my favorite things! Vintage-girly-prettiness meets modern-orange-fun with a hint of bicycle. Doug is an Ironman triathlete so we incorporated the cycling-inspired details like the wheel motif on our invitations and stationary, and the ‘chandeliers’ made from bicycle parts spray painted white. Doug is in love with the colour orange and I am in love with vintage details and all things pretty. It was a bit of a challenge to put together such potentially conflicting points of view and still have a cohesive feel, and I didn’t really know how well it was going to come together until the wedding day. It was better than I was hoping for!
