“We are a couple that met a few years ago and endured a long distance relationship between DC and Texas before our wedding. Amar created an elaborate scavenger hunt leading Seema throughout DC with friends and family waiting at every stop for his proposal. That kicked off a year of planning their dream wedding.” – Seema Patel

Their vision was to have an upscale luxury DC wedding with the casual touches of the groom’s Texas background while highlighting the importance of culture.

The ceremony was traditionally indian starting off with the jaan where the groom’s family dances their way up to the ceremony entrance and the bride’s family welcomes them. The couple was inspired by the idea of a royal indian wedding choosing jewel tones for the ceremony colors. After the ceremony, the emotional vidaii happened where the bride’s family gives her away to the groom officially.

The reception inspiration was a classy DC dinner party. Classic colors were chosen including rose gold, black and white. Rose gold sequin table cloths were used with crystal candelabras, black lamps and white calla lilies. During the reception, the couple wanted to marry their two cities with themes from both DC and Houston. Each table had a DC metro sign which corresponded with the metro ticket table card that each guest received. Their families did a flash dance with cowboy hats to bring in some Texas flair!

“We wanted a special way to thank our guests at midnight – we surprised them with the captain cookie food truck as they were leaving the reception, it was special that we were able to get in the truck and make/hand out sandwiches to our guests!” A Cultural Soirée – Real Wedding of Amar and Seema
