You may not be conscious of it, but colors play a large role in how we perceive things, how we feel and how we remember. While you can probably figure out what certain colors mean to you in your cultural context, have you ever wondered what colors mean to other communities? To help educate others, the good people at “ Information Is Beautiful ” delved deeper into the topic, and created a unique infographic of their findings.

What Do Colors Mean To Different Cultures?

Some of the findings include:

  • To the Japanese, pink=healthy, green=good luck, purple=God and orange=flamboyance
  • In South American cultures, green=death, red=danger, purple=mourning and blue=trouble
  • For Hindus, yellow=illness, red=heat, green=insight and black=anger
