Toronto Gallery Wedding from When He Found Her
Suyeon and Tony story started in University. Unbeknownst to Suyeon, when Tony asked her out for dinner it was actually a date! It was only about one year later when they bumped into each other again in a library one fateful day that they ended up reconnecting, later tying the knot to be with each other forever. Today I’m excited to share their wedding day captured by When He Found Her . It’s sweet & adorable and filled with so many pretty DIY details. I absolutely love the venue, the Thompson Landry Gallery in Toronto, a romantic setting for such a beautiful day. Enjoy!
What was your inspiration behind your overall wedding decor and colour choices?
We wanted to get married in a unique place that reflects our personality. We both wanted a rustic wedding with a contemporary feel to it. We’ve been to the Distillery District many times when we were dating and we’ve always loved the food there. With these in mind, there was no hesitation picking the Distillery District.
Because the gallery alone had lots of colours, we wanted to keep our decor neutral and soft with a rustic flair. My mom who has a keen eye on colour and my sister who’s an artist helped us with the decor and stationary. At the end everything looked harmonious.
A lot of things were done DIY and made it more personable. We participated in every detail including flowers, cake design, table cloth, menu and stationary. It was tedious and time consuming but was definitely worth it!
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
We had a number of games throughout the reception. One of the games required a guest to perform the Gangnam Style dance and, in return, the groom had to kiss the bride. One of our guest obliged. Following that, my husband led me to the center of the floor; he did some silly stretching. Then he ran towards me, picked me up and kissed me. It was very cute and special at the same time.
Do you have any advice for other brides/grooms-to-be?
Wedding planning can be stressful. Trust in your instinct and always remember your fiancé or fiancée will always be by your side in every step of the way. Try to enjoy every moment as it can be fun, especially when you go cake tasting and try on your dresses!
