Styled Abandoned Mine Session in Quebec
I received a lot of styled shoots over the past 5 years but nothing quite like this. Or rather, nothing quite as stunning as this. Shot at an abandoned mine in Quebec, stylist Meaghan Brunetti paired up with Jonathan Kuhn Photography to photograph real-life couple Susie and Shane that was entirely inspired by their surroundings. Enjoy!
Says Jonathan: Pulling inspiration from this remote and spectacular location, the Wallingford Back Mine in Western Quebec. Stylist, Meaghan Brunetti, chose this fascinating Anya Dionne hand painted skirt and dramatic sequin top to match the frozen landscape. The mine was once the largest mine in North America, now sits abandoned for the last 5 decades. The water is crystal clear and, in the winter, the ice is visibly several meters thick. The greys and blacks in the painted skirt mimic the majestic cracks in the ice, the yellow stone cavern walls pick up on the antique settee and contrast the dark and moody florals. These photos totally capture the magic of this magnificently raw scene. Susie and Shane were the sweetest models and humoured the wedding pros despite the – 30 Celsius temperature and treacherously slippery relief. A couple in real life, Susie and Shane met while she was working in a cafe in the hills of small town Chelsea, QC. Not your your typical couple, they are adventurers at heart, their first date was at a local ski hill and they continue to find adventures to keep them busy. This style shoot was the perfect opportunity for them to capture their love in a stunning, natural setting where they feel most at home.
