Spring 2012 Gown Trends

Every year, I peruse pictures from the runways of New York for Bridal Fashion Week to pull out some of the trends that you can be inspired by. And I’ll have to admit that the spring 2012 collections definitely did not disappoint. And while there were some designers that created gowns that weren’t my taste per se, I appreciate the fact that they took the risks and infused some originality to the mix. My favorite designers of the bunch were definitely Marchesa, Amsale, Kenneth Pool, Monique Lhuillier and Vera Wang.

Strapless no more!
When I asked you all on facebook what was the one trend that you wished would disappear, a lot of you said “strapless dresses!” This year, the collections were filled to the brim with strapped & sleeved options.

One shoulder gowns
Whether they be detailed with rosettes, large florals, bows or jewels, the one shoulder gowns are here to stay.

Delicate and beaded sheath covers
I absolutely adore the elegant necklines on these gowns that are a statement without the jewellery!

Tulle…and more tulle!
This tulle ballgown trend is definitely fit for a princess!

Belts
Belts are still a big trend this year. Although, they’re now less jeweled and more about the knots and bows.
