Pretty Retro-Inspired Wedding at the Vancouver Rowing Club
Good morning! Today’s charming wedding is sure to get you inspired. Nic and I found our venue accidently one day while we were riding our bikes along Stanley Park’s seawall. We came across the Vancouver Rowing Club and thought it offered a lot of the things that we love about Vancouver. The Vancouver Rowing Club is situated along False Creek in Stanley Park and offered breath taking views of the city landscape and the park’s beautiful lush greenery. We thought it would be perfect. We could picture ourselves celebrating with our good friends and family.
At the ceremony, the ‘altar’ was flanked by painted vintage lamps that were topped with handmade fabric poufs. Genius.
Nic and I share a love for things with a retro and vintage aesthetic. We both grew up listening to 50s and 60s music and watching old movies. My engagement ring is designed based off a modern 1950s ring we saw in a magazine. So it was only natural to infuse a retro feel to our special day. It wasn’t until we met LeLe Chan of The Goods for Le Soirees who showed us how to implement our vision through design and decor. LeLe designed the retro fun invitations, created beautiful table centre pieces, and coordinated the entire décor of the reception. The colours were inspired by the TV series, Mad Men which is known to use wonderfully rich colours. We choose a deep military green, light pink, and splashes of mustard yellow. The beautiful bridesmaids wore custom made dresses by a friend – Fran Stowe which were a deep green dress which contrasted nicely with the light pink hydrangeas they held. With a lot of great help from vendors, friends, and family we were able to achieve our vision and also enjoy the best day ever!
