Oil Creek and Shenango River to receive Fall Trout Stockings this week
Fall trout fishing has always been a great time. The weather is perfect for trout fishing this time of the year. Many trout anglers forget all about these fish after the first few weeks of the season. They don’t know what they’re missing. With so many streams stocked with trout during the year and many others supporting wild populations, the opportunities still exist for some great trout fishing action.
Due to a lack of angler interest and trout stocking participation, only two waters in NWPA will receive Fall Trout Stockings this year. Oil Creek and the Shenango River. Meet at the Rynd Farm Railroad Station at 9:30 am on Wednesday, October 1st to help the PFBC stock rainbow trout within Oil Creek State Park. This area is spectacular this time of year and these sections of Oil Creek produce monster holdover fish. Then, on Thursday, October 2nd meet at Lamont Corners (Intersection of SR18 and SR518) in Mercer County to help stock trout in the Shenango River. This stream will also be stocked with rainbows beginning at the Outlet of the Shenango Dam.
Fall trout fishing provides a colorful atmosphere and good fun. Lets give the PFBC a hand, show our interest, and check out the trout going in the waters we fish!
