Hemlock Lakes Campground
Hemlock Lakes Campground is located between Spring Creek in Warren County, Spartansburg in Crawford County, and just South of Corry, in Erie County. It is a family campground with camper and tent sites available. There are utility hookups available for both types of campsites. There are several ponds where catch and release fishing is allowed and one deeper pond with a sandy beach for swimming.
Hemlock Lakes Campground is near both Brokenstraw Creek and Spring Creek. Both are stocked by the PFBC with trout. Spring Creek is known for its ability to sustain populations of wild trout and Brokenstraw Creek also provides opportunity for multi-species fishing.
The campground has been under the same ownership for 28 years. I remember visiting the park as a young boy and still enjoy camping there.Telling stories while roasting marshmallows by the campfire and visiting with other camp-goers while they play a little bluegrass, always makes for a good night. Shooting stars are commonly seen on some nights and at times it looks like you can see every star in the sky.
There is also horseshoes, volleyball, several trails, a recreation hall, and activities including canoe races all season long. One of my favorite tent sites is located on a small island with nearby trails leading into the woods toward the other ponds. Cabins are available for weekend rental and overlook the largest pond where largemouth bass lurk. Daily visitors are asked to pay a $2 fee and camping rates are reasonable.
