Linda Sipple, of Erie, needed only 28 minutes in the woods to shoot the first deer of her hunting career.

On the final day of the archery season, Sipple shot an 8-point with her crossbow from 30 yards while hunting near Cambridge Springs. The buck had a 16-inch spread and weighed 185 pounds.

“I have mentored my son and now grandchildren and finally got a deer while in the woods in Cambridge Springs,” she said.

Sipple’s deer photo was one of 12 entered in the NWPA Outdoors Deer of the Month and Year Contest for November. Voting on the monthly winner started Nov. 24 and runs through Nov. 30. A new submission period for photos will open Dec. 1.

You always can share your trophy photo in the NWPA Outdoors Hunting & Fishing gallery for your chance at being featured in Deer of the Day.
