McConnells Mill State Park’s Historic Gristmill to Open Memorial Day Weekend
The historic gristmill in McConnells Mill State Park will be open over Memorial Weekend from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day. Beginning Friday, May 22 through Monday May 25, visitors can explore this historic treasure by joining the free guided interpretive tours. These tours of the gristmill, located in scenic Slippery Rock Creek Gorge, will show how waterpower was used to ground grains into flour before modern day electricity powered mills were used. The era when the Old Mill was in use dates from 1852-1928. Guided tours of the mill are available Memorial Day through Labor Day.
