Jamestown New York’s Audubon Center & Sanctuary’s Owl Programs
The Jamestown Audubon Center & Sanctuary will host two upcoming programs featuring owls. The first event titled “Saw Whet Owl Banding” is scheduled for October 24th, from 8-11pm. To register for this event please call 716-569-2345. The cost is $16 for non-members ans $12 for Friends of the Nature Center members. Reservations are required by October 20th. The second event, scheduled for November 1st, is title “Owl Day”. This event will run from 10am until 3pm. The cost of admission is $8 for non-members and $6 for members/children aged 3-15. Children under 3 are free. Learn what makes an owl a unique night predator. You can also meet Liberty, the resident non-releasable bald eagle. Find out what makes her different than owls. There will also be an owl calling contest with prize winners. You can even join in on the dissection of owl pellets to reveal what these creatures eat. Mark Baker, a licensed raptor rehabilitator will have several live owls on hand during his scheduled demonstrations. Scouts wishing to earn their owl patch must complete 4 listed activities at this event. There is a $3 charge for the patch not included in the price of admission.
