Dress warmly: Ice-fishing contests on horizon

Van Tassel’s Timberland Bait will put on ice fishing tournaments Jan. 29 on Conneaut Lake and Feb. 19-20 on Canadohta Lake.

The Conneaut Lake event starts at 7 a.m. and runs through 5 p.m. The Canadohta Lake event starts Feb. 19 at 7 a.m. and ends Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.

Cash prizes will be awarded for longest fish in each category: musky, northern pike, walleye, crappie and perch. There also will be a 50-50 drawing.

Cost to enter each tournament is $10 per person, payable at Timberland Bait, 6320 Dutch Hill Road, Union City, or the morning of the tournaments.
