Muskoka Inspired Wedding from eyecontact photography
I am so excited to get back into the swing of things, sharing with you boundless wedding inspiration from some Canadian talent. And how fitting is it that today’s wedding is a celebration of Canadian culture, as the bride and groom chose a Muskoka/cabin inspired wedding complete with an outdoor ceremony by the lake, Muskoka chairs as cake toppers and a beer table setting. How did you two meet?
We met on residence move-in day our first year at Queen’s University. The powers that be (i.e. Queen’s Housing Services) had put us on the same floor! But it wasn’t until fourth year that we went from being friends to something more.
After our dance, we cut the cake – tiers of cupcakes (a mix of Guinness chocolate, coconut, and chocolate chip cookie dough) on a wood stand, topped with a small two-tiered cake with a couple mini Muskoka chairs on top – one with a small tie, the other with a small bouquet. The Muskoka/cottage theme was carried throughout the wedding. The centerpieces were on top of sliced birch trees from Jason’s parents’ country home; the guests were asked to sign a guest Muskoka chair; matchbooks with small Muskoka chairs were placed on the bar, and other wooden and bark accents were around the room. And what cottage weekend is complete without beer? We are big beer drinkers, and as a favour gave guests beer koozies filled with bags of candy. Table numbers were also accompanied by a beer coaster, representing beers from countries we went to on our honeymoon (a beer tour of Belgium, Germany, Austria & Czech Republic).
