When you’re looking through weddings, do you ever stop and save images into your inspiration folder? I can tell you for a fact that if I was still planning my wedding right now, I’d probably add this next wedding into that little folder of mine. I am head over heels in love with the colour palette…a combination of navy blue and green. Isn’t it unbelievably refreshing? A big thanks to Stephen K Lee Photography for sharing Karen & Daniel’s modern wedding with us today.

Karen shares with us some of her wedding inspiration and DIY items.

DIY ITEMS: Our wedding was a very DIY wedding that was planned in about 6 months- I had to be very organized! The planning experience was fun though! My husband and I created everything, ranging from the Wedding Invitations, flower arrangements and cake. Although we didn’t bake all the give away tarts, we hand-wrapped all the wedding favours as well. My husband, who is an avid photographer, created the wonderful polaroid-like place cards for each of our guests and he also made the display board. Also, instead of the typical guest book, we decided to have an authentic polaroid camera to capture all our guests and their wishes. This was especially challenging since polaroid film is now very hard to find!

COLOR PALETTE: I loved the navy blue and apple green combo! It was a fall wedding so we didn’t want anything too ‘pastel-ly’. The colours are also fun, playful and complement each other which reflects my husband and I. We incorporated these colours in the wedding invites, bridesmaid dresses and groom/groomsmen’s ties.

DECOR INSPIRATION: We wanted something that was not extravagant and over the top. We wanted something simple but classy. Mainly whites and creams, with green/blue accents. This was reflected in the choice of flowers! I love green chrysanthemums (especially button mums and spider mums – a chrysanthemum was also on our wedding invite). We also used these colours for our giveaway boxes/ribbons.

Our wedding was definitely special – the goal was to have a memorable day that was shared with our closest family and friends and I honestly think we did that!
