Zippo sponsors Bradford Gun Club Memorial Day Weekend Shoot
The Bradford Gun Club’s 29th annual Zippo Trap Shoot competition will be held Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-25, 2015. Registration for the Zippo Trap Shoot begins at 9:00 a.m. each day, and the first event starts at 10 a.m.
The Zippo Trap Shoot, which is expected to draw more than 200 people from several states to the Bradford area, will be held on the three-day holiday weekend again this year after the success of last year’s event, said Mike Schuler, president of the Bradford Gun Club.
The Zippo Sponsored competition, held at the Bradford Gun Club’s West Warren Road location, is a registered Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) event.”The Bradford Gun Club is fortunate to work with great sponsors like Zippo and Case,” Schuler said. “It allows us to entice some of the most talented shooters in the country, including many ATA All-Americans, to visit the pristine beauty of McKean County.”
The event is open to all levels of experience. Shooters are divided into several categories such as Juniors, Ladies, and Veterans. Individuals will compete in three different trap shooting events: singles, handicap, and doubles. According to ATA guidelines, in singles events, all entrants stand at the 16 yard line and fire at one target at a time; in handicap, participants are assigned a yardage from 18 to 27 yards according to averages and known ability) and fire at one target at a time; in doubles, two targets are released at the same time and each contestant, standing at the 16-yard line, is allowed one shot for each.
Camping sites with water and electricity will be available on a first come, first served basis.
