Weed Warriors meeting Thursday
Weed Warriors is a volunteer non-profit organization that is part of the larger Presque Isle Invasive Vegetation Control Project. This program encourages species diversity and native species preservation through hands on removal of non-native species on Presque Isle State Park. Weed Warriors volunteer to assist in the removal of non-native species of plants in areas where they have become intermingled with native species, and in areas inaccessible to heavy equipment.
This Thursday, April 24th, Weed Warriors will have their annual public training meeting from 6:00 to 7:00pm at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. This event is free and open to the public. For more info please contact Weed Warriors at: (814)-217-9017 or at mjp5147@psu.edu

Weed Warriors: a component of the larger Presque Isle Invasive Vegetation Control Project, this program invites people of all walks of life to help preserve species diversity on Presque Isle State Park through hands-on removal of invasive plants. Weed warrior volunteer efforts augment heavy removal work done by DCNR Maintenance staff; DCNR scientific and technical interns; experts from the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and Penn State University College of Ag Sciences. Weed Warrior volunteers will focus on hand work in areas that can’t be accessed by heavy equipment or where native and non-native plants are intermingled.
