Pennsylvania Game Commission releases final approvals
The PGC has released it’s final approvals for the upcoming 2014-15 hunting/trapping seasons. Allocations for antlerless deer, elk licenses, and others have been set.
The PGC has allocated 779,500 antlerless deer licenses for hunters statewide. Most Wildlife Management Units (WMU’s) have an increased number of antlerless deer licenses available.
In NWPA, WMU’s 1A,1B, and 2F, all received increases in antlerless deer licenses.
Increases are as follows:
WMU 1A has increased from 47,000 to 49,000
WMU 1B has increased from 30,000 to 31,000
WMU 2F has increased from 27,000 to 29,000
WMU’s 2D ( which includes portions of Venango, Butler, Clarion, Armstrong, Jefferson, Indiana counties) and WMU 4A in the southern part of the state, have not changed their antlerless deer licenses numbers. WMU 4A now also has a split firearms deer season, aimed at increasing deer numbers there. In the southern portion of our state, antlerless deer license allocations in WMU 4B have decreased.
Hunting licenses for the 2014-15 hunting/trapping seasons go on sale mid June and become effective July 1st. After hunters purchase a general hunting license, they may apply for an antlerless deer license based on staggered timelines, which will be outlined in the 2014-2015 Pennsylvania Hunting and Trapping Digest presented to each license buyer. The 2014-15 digest will also be available at the website www.pgc.state.us .
Hunters and trappers who set their vacations for the fall and winter seasons are advised that once again, several seasons in the 2014-15 license year will be open or run about a week later than they usually do in many years. This is done to accommodate calendar swings related to the timing of Thanksgiving.
