While many sites in Italy with rough terrain and uneven ground are thought to be impossible for disabled tourists to visit, a newly designed travel wheelchair is now helping those who can’t walk experience all the country has to offer. The wheelchair, designed by Rome & Italy Tourist Services , has only one wheel, shock absorbers, and two arms in the front and back to support the device when it is not being used. Two guides roll and carry the chair, which has the ability to rotate 360 degrees as well as navigate rough streets and steep steps.
The chair is $393 to rent for three hours. Some of the experiences that can be arranged include visiting the Colosseum in Rome , touring the fishing villages of Cinque Terre , and climbing Mount Vesuvius near Naples .
To get a better idea of how the chair works, check out the video above.
