January’s Deer of the Month Contest winner: Virginia Starr
Virginia Starr, of Polk, Venango County, is the winner of the NWPA Outdoors Deer of the Month Contest for January.
Starr shot her heavy-beamed 10-point Dec. 2 from 200 yards in French Creek Township, Venango County.
Starr received the most votes in public voting Jan. 23-31 at wordpress.com/deeroftheyear . She narrowly beat Marilee Egli, of Girard , in the eight-deer field.
She wins a Game Tag Protector from Wolfgang Products of Saegertown as the monthly prize.
Starr also now joins October winner Bruce Stevens , of Lake City; November winner Dan Rense l, of Erie; and December winner Shane Weed , of Waterford, as a finalist in the NWPA Outdoors Deer of the Year Contest . The four monthly winners will vie for the title starting Feb. 4, when public voting opens at the contest web site. The public vote and editors’ votes will be taken into consideration when determining the winner.
The grand prize is a Pelican ProGear S140 Sport Elite Tablet Backpack valued at $216.
