Horsetail Fall

If there’s anything that will make you want to pack up your car and high-tail it to Yosemite National Park in the morning, it’s Yosemite Nature Notes . Steven Bumgardner’s incredible series just hit its 14th episode, and this time he set his sights on one of the park’s more ephemeral features – Horsetail Fall.

The cascade itself only appears when the region has the right amount of snow – and then for two weeks in February, when the light hits it a certain way at a certain time, the waterfall glows a brilliant red against the slate gray Yosemite rock walls.

I could try to keep describing it, or just let you watch the video instead. Apologies in advance for the cost of gas for the drive up north!
