Purple Martin Roost Kayak Tour this Friday at Presque Isle State Park
Join a naturalist this Friday at Presque Isle State Park for an interpretative paddle to the cattails at the head of the bay. There you can find tens of thousands of purple martins as they gather at one of the largest roosts in Pennsylvania. This is a great oppurtunity to witness this yearly spectacle occurring in NWPA. Soon these birds will make the 5000 mile journey to their wintering grounds in South America. This event is scheduled from 7:30-9pm on Friday, August 22nd. This event is free and registration is required by Thursday, August 21st. Please call (814)-833-7424 for more details and to register. The tour is intended for experienced kayakers. Please bring your own kayaks, headlamp, life jackets, and safety whistles.
