Presque Isle Bay ice update Jan. 17
The freighter Edgar B. Speer isn’t expected to arrive in Erie until after 5 p.m. today.
Two more freighters are due starting Wednesday. Between the arrival of the three ships, ice at the east end of Presque Isle Bay will take a beating this week.
Combined with today’s sun and an expected high temperature of 38 degrees and possible rain or wintry mix Tuesday , ice conditions bear watching. The temperature will dive again starting midweek, which suggest the bay will be alive with anglers this weekend. In the meantime — always, for that matter — safety first.
