The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is inviting the public to volunteer for the 29th Annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) this Saturday.  The ICC is the oldest and largest volunteer project of its kind and this annual event in Erie County has seen 13,916 dedicated volunteers during the past twelve years. These volunteers have removed more than 115,033 pounds of debris and trash from the Lake Erie shoreline and watershed.

“This is the 13th annual cleanup along the Lake Erie shoreline and tributaries,” DEP Northwest Regional Director John Guth said. “Past events have been so successful and so well-attended that this year we’ve added newer sites in The City of Erie and the Edinboro area.”

The Pennsylvania-Lake Erie ICC will be held Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. There are 17 clean up sites this year in Erie County. To find directions to the nearest clean up sites, please visit: Coastal Cleanup
