Welcome Gift Wednesday: Week Two
Hello readers! It’s Wednesday, so we have another guest post about welcome gifts written by the lovely Jamie from Marigold & Grey . Read what she has to say:
I am so excited for this week’s “Welcome Gift Wednesday” which is all about creating DC wedding welcome gifts. It’s no secret that I love supporting DC businesses. It’s not only good for the local economy but it’s also a fantastic way to welcome your guests to town by treating them to local sweets, snacks and keepsakes. Here are some of my favorites:
Olivia Macaron
I really like Olivia Macaron in Georgetown. Not only is this a well-known spot, but macarons are a great item to include in a welcome gift. You can even choose colors that coordinate with the color palette of the gift, often times in your wedding colors!
I love the flexibility of being able to choose between a 2-box, 3-box or 7-box depending on the size of your gift as well as your budget.

Dog Tag Bakery
I recently discovered Dog Tag Bakery and immediately fell in love. Not only are their treats delicious but provide education and training programs for veterans with disabilities! I especially love their fudge brownies. They’re individually wrapped and have their mission statement included on the label.

Custom Cookies
I also love using custom cookies to show off the local sights. My favorite designs are the US Capitol Building and the DC cherry blossoms, both by Fresh Bakes .

Element Shrub
I met the owner of this up-and-coming DC company, Element Shrub , at a launch party this past spring. I was immediately fascinated with the concept of shrubs, the way in which fruit was preserved during the colonial days using vinegar and sugar. Once the discovered it to be an interesting and flavorful way to mix non-alcoholic drinks, his business was off and running. When I discovered the shrubs are available in sample-size bottles, I immediately knew they’d be the perfect addition to any DC wedding welcome gift!
Pie Sisters
Another popular Georgetown establishment, Pie Sisters offers these adorable “cuppies”…a brilliant combination of the traditional cupcake and everyday pie. They offer their cuppies in several flavors but our favorite is the “jumbleberry” which is a mix of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries.

Ted’s Bulletin
Give your guests a taste of Capitol Hill with homemade, handcrafted poptarts from Ted’s Bulletin . They come in mini sizes as well as full size. Flavors include: Strawberry, Salted Caramel, Brown Sugar & Cinnamon, Blueberry Cheesecake and even seasonal offerings such as Key Lime Pie. Have them packaged in the iconic Ted’s black and white bakery bag or in a smaller favor size

Neighborwoods
Neighborwoods may not make their coasters in the District but they are a high-quality and very special way to show off all the various DC neighborhoods! These will make a lasting keepsake guests can hold onto long after your wedding is over.
