The Second Most Important Question – Pt. 1
We all know the most important question that is asked in preparation for a wedding, and that is “Will you marry me?” From the moment this question is proposed (and of course, responded to with a “yes”), everything starts to spin into motion and a wedding begins to be planned.
There is another question that is very important when it comes to weddings; it is the second most important question that can be asked in preparation for the big day. This question is, “Will you be my bridesmaid/groomsman?” Today on the blog, we will be focusing on how to be creative as you ask your best friends to be your bridesmaids, and next Tuesday we will take a look at the best ways to ask a friend to be a groomsman.
When it comes to bridesmaids, we know what happens when the bride asks her friend to be standing next to her at her wedding: the usual squeal, hug, and YES! is usually what occurs. Being asked to be a bridesmaid is a very exciting moment for both the bride and the potential bridesmaid, so it is important for the bride to ask her friend in a way that shows how important it is.
Tips for asking your favorite ladies to be your bridesmaids:
1) Do not take this lightly – show her how much you want her to be there with you.
A casual “Wanna be my bridesmaid?” may not show your friend how important this event is to you. Be intentional about the way you ask!
2) The way you ask doesn’t have to go with the theme of the wedding, but there could be cute ways to tie it in.
Be creative! If your wedding is going to be more intimate, you could take a few ladies out for tea and have their tea bags pop the question. If your wedding is going to be in a big city, take your girls out for a spa day and give out champagne bottles that have the question engraved in them. There are great ways to be creative with this question, especially if you are trying to tie it in with the theme of the wedding.
3) Give them something so they can always remember the way you asked.
Your ladies will love if you give them something that they can keep to remember the moment that you asked them this especially important question. If you do not have anything palpable for them, you could take polaroids of their reactions when they realize that you are asking them to be your bridesmaids.
All in all, the way you ask your closest friends to be your bridesmaids is entirely yours, so make it special for you and for them! This should be a moment you will all remember for a lifetime.
