The Dress Hunt Duty
In preparation for one of the biggest days of her life, a bride must hunt down and choose the most iconic piece of her wedding: her dress. If you are one of the people she brings along to make this vitally important choice, there are a few things you should do to make sure that she knows how honored you are to be with her.
1) Reassure her consistently.
A bride has the choice of who to bring with her to hunt for a dress, and the fact that she has brought you means that your opinion means a great deal to her. Do not be overly critical or opinionated – she needs your reassurance now more than ever.
2) Be honest and affirm what you know she is thinking.
Reassuring the bride does not mean that you have to lie to her. If you feel as though she looks uncomfortable in a dress or perhaps is faking her love for it due to someone else’s opinion, tell her what you know she needs to hear. Sometimes, a bride needs to hear someone echo what she is thinking in order to be strong enough to say no to a dress that her entourage may love.
3) Remember that this is HER wedding.
Because it is her wedding that she is planning for, she has every right to choose a dress that you may hate. The most important part of the process is to be supportive of her, even if you may not agree with her decision.
The bride is looking to you for affirmation, support, and especially excitement. This is one of the hugest milestones in her life and she has chosen you to celebrate with her – make it count for her and express how thankful you are to be a part of her dress decision!
