Bride Blogger Update: Location. Location. Location. – Part II
So at this point, we know where Bride Blogger Milagros is going to have her big day – and I am so excited for her! Today, she is back to tell us how she found her spot and the other top contenders…

So, you are getting married in or around the nation’s capital. This can be exciting, but also overwhelming – as there are a TON of places to choose from. There are venues for every budget and every size wedding all over the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia).
I will just share a few of my favorites based on my style, but I strongly suggest checking out local DC bridal magazines, or hiring a planner to help you wade through all of your options.
Strong Mansion.
This mini-mansion is best served for outdoor weddings. Because it is near the mountains it is a bit cooler than temperatures in the city, but what really makes Strong Mansion special are the views and the gardens.
Additionally, they have a permanent tent with small chandeliers, which is perfect for an outdoor reception. The costs to rent the space are also very reasonable, which makes it worth the trip to go visit.
The main reason we didn’t choose this space was the heat in July, and distance from the city. At the end of the day, I wanted to stay close to the city so that the party could keep going until the wee hours of the morning. (OK, maybe it won’t – but a girl can hope right?)
PS – The photos on the website do not do this venue justice. It is worth going to see it in person.
The Willard.
I may be partial, but The Willard combines the benefit of having a hotel wedding, with the character of an old mansion. Plus who doesn’t love a venue where you can invite your in-laws to afternoon tea?
Our contact at the hotel is Scotlyn, who has been a complete joy to work with. They have been willing to work with us at every step of this process. Most importantly, I can rest assured that Scotlyn has my back, and will be a great support on our actual wedding day, so that I can just enjoy my friends, family, and a few glasses of champagne.
Textile Museum.
When I first saw pictures of the Textile Museum , I could not stop thinking about it. One day, I went for an unscheduled visit, and they allowed me to walk around the gardens. It is a lovely space, for a small wedding. Online photos do make it appear to be a bit larger than it actually is, but the photos do not undersell it’s beauty.
