Oh, lucky us, it is Tuesday already which means that DW is back today with Milagros’ dress search , Part II. Enjoy!!

I wouldn’t want to write about The Dress without sharing some of the key tips I learned along the way.  From shopping smart, to staying sane and relatively sober throughout the process!  From bride to bride, I hope that these help!

When you are dress shopping…

-A glass of champagne never hurt anyone

-Depending on your personality, bring friends and family who will speak the truth in the kindest way.  This is your wedding dress, so you should feel celebrated and beautiful throughout the process.

-Wear Spanx and other helpful undergarments since you will be baring it all in the fitting rooms.

Before you pull the trigger on your dress…

-Take pictures!  Some salons are prohibitive on this front, but if you feel close to saying Yes(!), they may allow you to take one or two.  This was the biggest factor in making my final decision.  I fell in love with a few gowns that were simply not flattering in photographs.  You want to not only feel like a million bucks on your wedding day, but also feel confident that you will look beautiful in the photographs that will tell the story of your wedding.

Shop Smart…

-Sign up for emails from your favorite bridal salons.  They will alert you to sales, trunk shows, and special events so you won’t miss out on any opportunities to get a great deal!

-Sample sales make it possible to find amazing dresses at hugely discounted prices.  These tend to happen seasonally when new collections are being sent to the bridal salons.  I just happened to have reached a decision on the type of look I wanted for the wedding dress around the time winter sample sales, and got an amazing dress for a fraction of the original cost.

Finally….

Amazing bridal doesn’t necessarily have to be bridal.

There are so many gorgeous white/cream/blush dresses out there – you don’t have to pull from the bridal racks to find a beautiful dress.

My Personal Favorites…

Hitched (Where I bought my dress!)

Love Couture Bridal in Potomac (They were really sweet to work with)

Amsale in NY (The staff was quite warm and friendly)

Also, Carine’s Bridal Atelier is a small boutique on Wisconsin Avenue that has a beautifully curated collection of dresses.  Even if you don’t find your dress there, they rent accessories for your big day.  So you can save money and still feel amazing.
