Glen Echo
Glen Echo Park is a fun and unique wedding space that is perfect for couples hoping to step outside the box. Known for the Dentzel Carousel, which was brought to the park in 1921 and operates May through September, it features hand carved animals and is a beautiful addition to any reception.
The two most popular reception spaces are the Spanish Ballroom and Bumper Car Pavilion. The Bumper Car Pavilion is just that, an old bumper car pavilion. It is an open air, outdoor, covered pavilion which can hold up to 200 and is the perfect space for dancing. It also offers a stage shell for a band or DJ.
The Spanish Ballroom is the most glamorous space. Originally built in 1933 and restored in 2003, it is a beautiful Mediterranean style Art Deco building. The Ballroom includes a great entry foyer and promenade hallways that line the perimeter of the fantastic dance floor. There is also a large stage, accustomed to holding big bands. This space can hold up to 450 people for a seated dinner and dance, or over 800 people just standing. Neither reception space has any heat or air conditioning, but Glen Echo will provide large floor fans during the warmer months and some hanging heat lamps in the cooler months.
Three additional spaces are available for couples hoping to having their ceremony at Glen Echo.
The Cuddle Up Pavilion, which once housed the Cuddle Up ride, is a covered, open air space with a concrete floor. It has a stage perfect for ceremonies and can hold up to 170 people. A second ceremony option is the Grassy Circle, which is popular with brides who want a mix of nature and Art Deco architecture. It is a smaller space that can accommodate up to 100 people seated. The Crystal Pool Lawn is a third beautiful option for a ceremony. It is the largest green space and can accommodate up to 200 people for a ceremony.
Glen Echo Park does have an approved list of seven caterers that brides must choose from for their celebration. Additionally, a list of recommended vendors that have worked at Glen Echo before is available, and clients are welcome to bring in their own vendors like florists, DJs, and photographers.
