We have been catching up with Marybeth over the past couple of weeks to hear all about her wedding plans.  So fun!  Today’s post is a testament to the DW motto that “inspiration is everywhere”!

A few weeks ago my mom came to town for my favorite event of the year – Zoofari.  For those of you who have never been here is what you are missing out on: 100 of the area’s top restaurants set up through out the National Zoo sampling their best menu items for you to taste.  In addition to the restaurants there are wineries offering tastings, behind the scenes tours of the zoo and other entertainment.  I look forward to this event every year and always leave thinking I won’t be able to eat for at least three days.

Okay, but what does this have to do with my wedding planning?  Well it turns out Zoofari is a fantastic place to find wedding inspiration.  Looking for a rehearsal dinner location? You can sample all your choices right there.  But my favorite idea came from Edward Marc Chocolatier .  Their booth was packed with a long line, but the wait was well worth.  The chocolate was amazing and the display was beautiful.  My favorite item was a white chocolate lollipop in the shape of the Capitol Building, what a perfect thing for a welcome bag or favor at a DC wedding!

The company is family owned and the mother and daughter handle the wedding aspect of the business.  All of their chocolates can be personalized with your monogram and come wrapped with pretty ribbons.  The most unique item they offer for weddings has got to be the chocolate menus.  How great to have each of your guests sit down to their own menu that is also dessert?  Right now I am obsessed with their chocolate cordial cups and I’m thinking a cordial and liqueur bar is the new candy bar…
