Tulum Recap
Ok, so first, the ruins were disappointing….so many tourists and the actual ruins themselves were not that great when you compare them to Machu Picchu or even Chichen Itza….oh well
Anyway, we rocked into Tulum pueblo and met two guys from Boston/NY who took us down to their hotel place on the beach and essentially sold us on staying there. We had a little cabana right on the beach–I`m talking like 10 feet away from the ocean–and our front window opened up to the water. It was beautiful. We spent the past few days hanging out with Mike and Eric and doing the ever essential tan camp on the beach…and I even managed not to get burned!! Amazing! We spent one day out snorkeling in the waves (which is not as cool after all the diving, but anyway) and then just laid in the sand….what a life. We had planned to go diving in one of the nearby cenotes (underground caves filled with water, so no animals but all sorts of stalagmites…or tites, to see), but Steve got a cold and it is a definite no no to dive with a cold as bad as his, so we are going to try to swing through on our way back to Cancun
We are in the border town of Chetumal now, and are planning on crossing into Belize City tomorrow morning…our bus leaves at friggin 6 in the morning! Bleh!!! I promise promise promise to put pictures up soon when we get someplace with a normal internet connection!!!!
