Just hanging out
We`ve just been hanging out in Quito since Sunday, now, and wow, it is tiring!! Aaron left us yesterday morning to head back home, and we spent the rest of the day recovering and watching the World Cup–Steve was sporting some Italian pride, let me tell you! Today, we made a quick list of things we needed to do, and so far, we haven`t been back to the hotel! I dragged Steve across town for a guidebook for Central America, and finally found one….unfortunately, it is a Footprint instead of a Lonely Planet, and not to do promotions here, but I definitely like LP better. Oh well, I can get used to it!
So, Steve had a guy try to pickpocket him the other day! The three of us were walking back from dinner or something in the Old Town, and this guy holding a baby, of all things, tried to stick his hand inside Steve`s cargo pocket on his pants! Steve felt it and immediately put his hand there, full on catching the guy red handed. He slapped his hand away and stared him down, and the kid just looked at his friend and laughed like, Oops, I got caught. Of course, Steve shouted a few choice words in English, but that was about the extent of it. Kinda crazy–that hasn`t happened the entire time we have been down here, and two days before we leave! WHAM! It is kinda like those Murphy`s Law things…
