Forbidden Fruits Make Many Jams

Honestly, you’ve all got to read the church signs down here. That was one of them. Other favorites include:

1. Coming soon: Heaven or hell (way to scare people!)
2. God Accepts Knee Mail (AHAHAHAHAHAH!)

but the fruit one was definitely my favorite!

Anyway, we finally had our first WEIRD experience, and wow, was it a good one! We were cruising over the Ozarks yesterday (cruising being a relative word) and were pretty psyched since we hit our 1000 mile. We decided to stop at a campground on the backside of the mountain, and we pull up to see only one car there. He immediately comes over to talk to us, and right off the bat, is the weirdest man I’ve ever met. He starts offering us beer, weed, pills, you name it…..so we pass, and try to get him to go away. Of course, doesn’t take the hint. He goes on and on about his messed up life for quite awhile, and Steve and I seriously start to reconsider where we are staying. After about 30 minutes, another couple on a motorcycle pull in, and they come over to chat. Unfortunately, Vince also walks up and starts telling us about all of his S&M experiences, including one that took place at the campground the night before with some random guy–he even pulls out a bag of torture devices. I am not even kidding. Not even going to go into details, but yeah, he had a whole bag of “gear.” You’ve got to be kidding me, right?!!! Steve and I are like no way, you’re a frea and we are out of here, and the couple on the bike also decide to jet. Unfortunately, it is already dark and we are in the mountains and we only have our bikes, so it wasn’t the safest situation possible, but the couple (Lorna and Keith) were awesome. They went ahead on their motorcycle for about 10 miles and scouted a new camping site, and then stayed at the adjacent campsite for the night. Keith found out that Steve’s thermarest had a hole in it, and he even traded him Thermarests and gave him his brand new one. How sweet is that? It was amazing to me–I met probably the sickest and most twisted individual I have ever personally met, and then followed it up by two of the sweetest people possible. Who knew?! I never, in a million years, would’ve thought that I would ever meet a man so twisted. Yuck!

Anyway, we’re in Hot Springs, Arkansas now, and I think we are going to do some tour of the old bath houses, so I am out of here. Talk to you all later!
