Oil Creek State Park Biathlon set for August 9th
The Oil Creek State Park Biathlon will be held on Saturday, August 9th. This biathlon will consist of a 6k cross country run with 2 shooting stops. Participants will be required to pick up a .22 caliper rifle at each shooting station and will be aiming for a 4.5 inch metal knockdown target 33 meters away. For each out of the 5 shots that miss the target, participants will need to run a 70 meter penalty loop. This event is open to all athletes 12 and over who complete a mandatory pre-race safety clinic. the safety clinic will begin at 8:30 am with the race itself beginning at 10am. All equipment will be provided. Proceeds will benefit Friends of Oil Creek State Park. This organization is a volunteer group that supports the park’s activities.
The field size is 80 participants with the first 50 receiving t-shirts. The entry fee is $20.
