Earth Day lecture scheduled for today at Mercyhurst University

Earth Day was first organized in 1970 to promote ideas of ecology, encourage respect for life on earth, and to highlight a growing concern over pollution of the soil, air, and water.

The Sister Maura Smith Earth Day Lecture will be held today at Walker Recital Hall in Mercyhurst University’s Hirt Academic Center. Stacy Malkan, author of “Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry” will explain the environmental impacts of toxic chemicals used in personal care products and their effects on public health. This event is scheduled for 7:00pm. It is free and open to the public.
