We’re in Chaaaaaaaleston, West Virginia
That’s how Steve says it anyway. He refuses to say the “R” in Charleston, so all I’ve heard over the past few days is the word “Chaaaaleston” floating out of his mouth in that Boston accent of his. Dear lord, help me! In order to fight back, I keep shouting “Telemundo” at him as loud as I can. Not sure what good it really does, but at least I get to shout something!
So ANYWAY, yeah, we’re in Charleston, finally made it out of Kentucky–not that I was complaining. Kentucky was absolutely beautiful with incredibly friendly people and great autumn colors. People were really going out of their way to help us–last night at Outback, our waiter got on the phone and called information and a few other numbers to try and find us a campground. Awwww!
Nothing really eventful. We had a slow go of it for awhile when we first left Tennessee and entered Kentucky as it was friggin’ cold! We crossed into Scottsville, KY last week, and I believe it was like 40 degrees and raining. Lovely. The next few days kept up like that, and for any of you who know me, I don’t do cold very well! (not to mention cold with a 15 mph headwind that you create for yourself on the bike!) It made it even worse when we realized we needed to get to a bike shop–Steve was having tire issues–and the closest one was in Bowling Green, which was not at all in the direction we were headed. Oh well. We made it there, go the tire stuff, and it warmed up, so we’ve been enjoying beautiful weather. Still nippy at night though –definitely dipping below freezing!
Gonna try to get over the Appalachians in the next few days, and head into North Carolina to visit my Aunt and maybe James–for those of you who know him. Should be fun. I’ll just be glad to be over the ogre mountains!
